Our Work
Where We Work
MSF’s medical teams work in more than 70 countries to provide lifesaving assistance where it is needed the most. We work in conflicts, epidemics, following natural disasters and where people would not otherwise have access to medical care. As well as responding to emergencies, we provide care through our longer-term projects in places where people wouldn’t otherwise be able to access medical care.
Our Programmes
Projects in Eastern Africa
MSF has some of its largest medical projects across East Africa including in South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia and Burundi. In these countries, MSF runs hospitals, health centres and mobile clinics, and launches emergency projects as spikes in healthcare needs arise. MSF also has a regional office in Kenya, which supports our medical programmes in the country and those surrounding it, recruits staff to help run our operations around the world and raises awareness of humanitarian crises that we are responding to.

Ethiopia
In Ethiopia, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) worked in coordination with the Ministry of Health to meet the medical needs of local communities, as well as refugees and displaced people.

Kenya
In 2024, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) responded to multiple emergencies and public health challenges in Kenya.
Somalia
Our commitment to accessing and assisting people in need remains steadfast.

South Sudan
Throughout 2024, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) ran 12 regular and five emergency projects in South Sudan, offering a range of services, including general and specialist healthcare, and mental health support.

Sudan
The war in Sudan has had disastrous consequences for people’s health and wellbeing. Throughout 2024, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) delivered medical and humanitarian assistance across many of the country’s conflict-ravaged states.

Tanzania
In Tanzania, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provided healthcare to Burundian refugees and responded to outbreaks of measles, malaria and Marburg fever in 2023.

Uganda
In Uganda, Médecins Sans Frontières works to address gaps in healthcare for adolescents and respond to the health needs of the growing number of refugees arriving in the country.
How We Are Run
We are a global network owned and run by our staff, past and present. Collectively, we make sure that MSF stays true to its mission and principles. At any given time, this network has tens of thousands of members. Members of the MSF network bring their professional experience and knowledge to respond quickly and with great impact when they are needed, working in MSF projects in more than 70 countries.
Our supporters are a vital part of the network - their generosity and support helps fund everything we do. This allows us to stay independent, neutral and impartial - and to access those in greatest need quickly.
